What design is

“One doesn’t train in design to make posters or logos. One trains to develop an increasingly intuitive sense of what works and why”.

I think design is – mainly, not only – a matter of sense, of sensibility one develops and sharpens over the years. About what is good and what is bad, what is “beatiful” and what is not, what it works and what it doesn’t. You reach a point where you feel when something is well designed, or instead needs some extra work.

But it’s also the capability to explore all the possible solutions to a given problem, and choose the “right” one out of tens. It’s something that ideally lies between your gut and your brain. Which indeed is the location of your heart.

Every time I see someone else having my same idea, I feel relieved and encouraged in how I am intending my profession as designer.
